INDIA 2012

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION: This trip was also something special. As my younger brother cycled to India, I thought that I could at least come here by plane! So I did. But after arriving in New Delhi I was not sure any more if I will enjoy it that much. Its simply such a huge contrast when you come from Europe, you arrive, get out of the airport, its 35°C, people sleep on the street, its smelling so bad….  But after some time in the northern region close to Rishikesh I got slowly used to the country. It even got better when I returned to New Delhi to pick up my friend Amaia who was arriving from Spain to travel with me one month. Together we took a 36 hour train to Chennai to see first the southern part of India. Crossing the country inside, seeing beautiful tea plantations, we came to the famous temple city named Hampi and finally to the west coast to Goa. There our ways split and while Amaia went to Assam and Kolkata to do social work for one month each, I flew to the very north of India, to Ladakh. After an unforgettable track in the Himalaya mountains all by myself I crossed the crazy Leh-Manali highway by bus before arriving to Dharamsala. This was my last stop where I actually wanted to do a 10 days vipassana meditation course which did not work out because of missing time. But I still found time to get some inner peace. At this point I want to say a big thank you to you Amaia for enriching this monkynious trip!
